Last Minute Details
This is the Final Informational post before our Scrap
Your Adventures Weekend! (January 18-20, 2019)
Just a "few"
things...
Here is the address
and phone number:
The Chubb Hotel and
Conference Center
309 Manor Road
Lafayette Hill, PA
19444
(610) 825-8000
Directions: From
Tabernacle, NJ-Google Maps indicates it will take approximately 95 minutes
via the Turnpike Bridge. So this may help you gauge your travel time
for anyone who lives near me.
Arrival: Arrival
at Chubb is Friday is 12:00 noon. No one is permitted to enter the crop
rooms prior to 12:00 noon, except for vendors. No exceptions. Please make sure
you bring or plan your lunch ahead of time, as we will not be eating dinner
until 6:00 pm. We will be scrapbooking in the Lafayette Ballroom.
Thursday arrivals: check in is anytime after 4:00 p.m. Dinner is
not included in your Thursday night rate. Yes, it is probably too late to
decide to arrive on Thursday as all of our lists have been finalized.
Parking/ check
in: Official check-in is at 4:00 pm. But, you may check with the
front desk to see if your room is ready. Check in is in the front of the
building. You can touch base there when you arrive then will get back in
your car to drive around to the back where the ballroom is (parking lot D is by
the ballroom). You will unload your supplies here and then move your car
out into the parking lot. If you'd rather just unload your supplies first
and check in later, that is your prerogative. Please do not bring your
suitcases or other personal such items into the crop room as we are at maximum
capacity and will have a lot of ladies arriving with their stashes.
Check out: Official
check out time is at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Please check out of your room and
place your luggage in your vehicle before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. No luggage
should be brought to the crop room for storage; please place all luggage in
your vehicles at the time of check out. The crop room will close at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday. Please plan accordingly.
Meals: For
Thursday night guests, breakfast is a buffet and served in the Marquis Ballroom
from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning.
On Saturday and Sunday, breakfast is continental and will be served
inside or quite near the crop room (Lafayette) between the hours of 7:00 a.m. -
10:00 a.m. Lunch will be located in the Marquis Ballroom from 12:00
p.m.-1:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Dinner will be served in the
Marquis Ballroom from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday
nights. If you are not arriving until after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, we must
know before Wednesday so that we can make arrangements for your meal to be
prepared for you (some sort of sandwich platter will be held for you as there
is no room service at this hotel.)
Luggage Carts: There
are luggage carts available. I will inquire about having some towards crop room
for our use. I cannot guarantee that this will happen.
Registration: Please
stop by the hotel registration desk for your sleeping room assignments and room
keys. Please go to the SAG registration table at the scrapbooking area before
starting to scrap.
Internet service:
There is internet service throughout the hotel. There will be login/password
information available if needed.
Crop Space/Lighting:
Any of you who have attended scrapbooking events at large hotels in the past
know that the lighting in large rooms can be dim in some areas and bright in
others. Chubb is no different. Your group may want to bring a floor or table
lamp and extension cords (the longer the better) to insure you have
adequate lighting for your space. Ott Lights are perfect for scrapping. Sorry
for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is better to be prepared so you
can take full advantage of this weekend away. Each scrapper will be provided a
4 foot cropping space for the weekend.
Extension Cords: The
electrical outlets are very wide-spread. Please remember to bring electrical
cords and power strips for you and your friends. We will do our best to make
sure all tables have electric. We can be quite creative if necessary.
Dress: Please dress in
layers. Sometimes it is cool, sometimes it is warm. Don't forget your slippers.
We have 24-hour scrapping, so you can scrap in your jammies if you want. There
is no need to worry about your scrap stuff as there is usually someone
scrapping at all times. However, I recommend bringing your electronic devices
(phones, laptops, iPads, cameras, etc.) up with you when you go to your room,
especially since we are in a much bigger venue than we generally are.
Music: Please bring
headphones for your radio/music or keep your table music low.
Electronic Cutting
Systems: If you have a Cricut or some other cutting system, you may want to
bring a small table (like a tv/snack table). I cannot guarantee that there will
be an extra spot or tables available for your tools since we are at maximum
capacity for this crop weekend. I will try to accommodate your sitting areas
for the extra table as long as it does not interfere with aisles/exits.
Church: There are
several churches in the area. Please check with the front desk for this
information.
Alcohol: Will be
available at an onsite bar for purchase. Please tip your bartender well for
good service.
Clothing (T-shirts and
Sweatshirts) Sale: All S*A*G gear was to be prepurchased. The link for purchasing shirts/sweatshirts
for delivery to your home after our weekend is:
Scrap Your
Adventure Gear. If you ordered
online prior to the first deadline of 12/27/18, your shirts should arrive to
your home prior to departing for our weekend.
If you ordered after 12/27/18, your shirts will not arrive until after
the weekend.
Drinking/Eating at
your scrap tables: Please be careful - you don't want any spills on your work
or your neighbor's work. A covered travel cup/mug is highly
recommended. Coffee breaks (soft drinks, warm drinks, ice water and
snacks) will be provided during the days. Please bring your travel cups. S*A*G is selling “Tonya’s Tribe” stemless,
lidded wine cups (good for hot and cold beverages) and all proceeds will be
given to our own warrior, Tonya Sheridan, who is currently fighting
cancer. You can preorder your cup
here: Tonya’s Tribe Preorder. Cups are $25 pre-purchase/pre-payment and $30
at the crop.
Entertainment: The
hotel facility provides a fitness area for your use. Maggie Christy of
Muse's Touch will be available for massages. Please sign up via this
form: Muse’s Touch Massage Request. Please sign up early for the best chance of
getting your requested massage time.
Each pod of tables
will be set with a waste basket. Please clean up your scrap area
periodically, so Laura, Donna and I do not have to. Remember, anything left
behind will be photographed and posted on Facebook. Retrieval of any "lost"
items will be your responsibility.
Rooms: You do not have
to bring any linen, unless you have a special pillow/pillowcase. All rooms
include a Keurig coffee maker, in-room safe, refrigerator, and flat screen
television. The bathroom features a simple tub/shower combination with sample
size toiletries and hair dryer.
Vendors: We will have
several vendors on the premises. If you forget or need something, don't worry -
it should be there for purchase. The vendors will have Tally sheets available,
so you can "settle" with them at the end of the weekend. You may also
let your friends/family know that if they would like to shop with our vendors,
they can do so on Saturday between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm. The vendors are: CM,
CTMH, Stampin' Up, Kiwi Lane, Scrap and Beads, Chaulk Couture (Saturday only),
Page Kits by Debbie (Sunday only), Scentsy, and massages by Maggie Christy of
Muse's Touch throughout the weekend. I hope I didn't forget anyone. If I did, I
apologize.
Classes: Several of
our vendors will have classes (for a fee) available to you. Please take
advantage of this opportunity to learn/try new things. Take a look at each
vendor's classes and sign up when you arrive.
Card Swap: if interested please contact Kristie Worrell via S*A*G facebook page or kworrell0514@gmail.com. We are always looking for card swappers to increase our stash of birthday, anniversary, get well, sympathy and just general cards to send out. Make a certain number of the same card and hand in at the beginning of the weekend to Kristie, who will give everyone one copy of each card received in the swap (yes, including your own) and one set of cards will be given to the "house" (S*A*G) to use, give away or raffle off as they see fit.
Yard Sale: All info is on the S*A*G Facebook Page. If you would like to participate, please join the Facebook page (link below) to get a number to sell your excess scrapbooking stash.
Bottle Cap Collection: Our friend and scrapper, Janet B., will be collecting all of your plastic bottle caps to send into a program which will recycle them into park benches. Participation is not mandatory but why not bring in your unrecyclable bottle caps and keep them out of the landfills. Another way our S*A*G ladies are impacting the world around us.
Swap Table: If you're not interested in participating in the yard sale, you don't have a lot of excess stash or you are looking for that one matching piece of paper or embellishment, our friend and scrapper Robin B., will be hosting a swap table during the weekend. Leave something, take something, at the end of the weekend, all of the contents of the table will be donated to local teachers who will use for their classrooms.
Facebook: If you
haven't joined our Facebook page, please do so. This is a very easy way for me
to inform scrappers of upcoming events and scrapbooking specials. Here is the
link: S*A*G
FACEBOOK GROUP
If you have any
concerns with the hotel/banquet facility/staff, please bring it to MY
attention. I cannot address it and correct it if I do not know about it.
Okay, I think that's
it. If you have any questions that I haven't covered, please let me know. Here
is my cell phone number if you need to contact me - 609-781-0508. Laura, Donna
and I are heading over on Thursday night.
We are looking forward
to a fun weekend!!! Can't wait to scrap with you!
